Images of excellence

The annual UIM photographic competition was judged in Monaco at the UIM headquarters in January. The rules of the competition stipulate that the photographs have to be taken at UIM events. There are six classes in which photographs are judged: Offshore, Circuit, Endurance Offshore, Jetsprint, Aquabike and Atmosphere. This year the Aquabike category was dropped from competition due to a lack of entries. More than 100 pictures were submitted for the competition. Pictures are graded in four categories of Creativity, Technical Quality, Composition and Subject Matter with the combined totals giving a total score for each picture. The competition jury was again chaired by Milan Teodorovic, Formula 1 TV director/producer and chief of photography for Top Speed Magazine. The members of the jury were professional photographer Matthias Verstraete, UIM Treasurer Louis Laik and UIM Yearbook editor Paul Nicholson of Sport Solutions. The overall standard of photography was excellent and the images entered covered a greater subject range and came from 17 photographers of 12 different countries.
